The entire Francophone community together with FANS (French speaking Association of the North Shore) is completely occupied with the upcoming 13th Annual French Market. It will be held on Sunday November 5th from 9:30am to 4pm at Killarney Heights Bilingual Primary School – just 20 minutes from the Sydney CBD.
The market has become a must-do event for the region. With over 60 professional stalls and at least a dozen others related to the school community, the French Market offers all sorts of French products that will please Francophiles and general lovers of quality food, culture and traditions.
There will be an assortment of items for big and small: linens, clothes, jewellery, books, CDs and DVDs. There will also be a vast range of regional cuisine: sausages, pies, cheese… all the wonderful French items you can image, in a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere with French music playing in the background.
Of course the Market will also include many of the children’s activities found at a traditional school fair; slides, playgrounds, jumping castles (strong enough for even the parents to enjoy) and face painting. People of all ages can enjoy strolling around the market and treat themselves to authentic French treats and beverages, as well as indulge in classic ‘fair food’ such as snow cones and fairy floss.
The market is the only fundraising event by the FANS association. The benefits of the fundraiser contribute to funding the French/English bilingual program at Killarney Heights School, which is managed by FANS. This program began in 1999 and to date, 235 French speaking students and 365 English speaking students have benefited from it. Since 2012, the program is officially accredited and the school has been awarded the Label Franc’Education by the French government.
Ultimately this event is a must-do to add to your upcoming weekend. If you’re in the area don’t miss out on all the fun and festivities!
