Air marshal Mel Hupfel, appointed as an Officer in the National Order of Merit
On Monday 15th February, the French Ambassador in Australia Jean-Pierre Thebault was honoured to bestow the insignia of Officer of the Ordre National du Mérite to Ari Marshall Mel Hupfeld, Chief of Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force.
Air marshal Hupfeldhas regularly been in contact with French Armed Forces along his carrier, especially when he was Chief Joint Operations. Due to his operational duties, he was a daily stakeholder of the bilateral Australian French military cooperation, notably in our common commitments in the fight against Daesch in the Middle-East and in the planning and the conduct of our combined defence and security operations in the South Pacific.
Today, Air marshal Mel Hupfel and his French counterpart air Chief Marshal Philippe Lavigne commonly share their views on the strategic challenges our forces are facing.
The Ordre National du Mérite is the French national order, with the Legion d’honneur, to honour French and foreign citizens for their distinguished services for France
